In his acoustic illustration of a factory – an iron foundry – Alexander Mosolow captures the complex of man and machine in sound. The concert hall is transformed into a factory hall, the orchestra groans, rumbles and stomps like a high-performance machine and the horns simulate the factory siren. Mosolov’s impressive work of Russian Futurism is a resounding symbol of social and technological change.
